At Jahorina, regional wine festival gathers 21 exhibitors

A regional wine festival was held this evening at Jahorina, featuring 21 exhibitors presenting domestic wines, rakija, and authentic gastronomic specialties.

Held as part of the “Jahorina Economic Forum,” the regional wine festival also provides an opportunity for establishing business connections.

Mladen Fuštar from the “Vukoje 1982” Cellar in Trebinje told SRNA that the Vukoje winery has been producing premium wines and grape distillates for 35 years.

“Our entire production is based on our own raw material base—what is harvested in the vineyards goes straight into production, to the winery and the distillery. In addition, we also produce olive oil,” said Fuštar.

He assessed that such festivals are highly significant because exhibitors present products that are not available in regular sales.

Regarding customer preferences, Fuštar noted that about ten years ago red wine was far more consumed, but today, with changing habits, consumption has shifted in favor of white wine.

Velibor Pešić from the Belgrade-based winery “Pešić” told SRNA that they have vineyards in Subotica and North Macedonia.

“We’ve been doing this for 10 years. We came to present our wines, all of which are good, but people love ‘tamjanika’ the most because of its fragrance, freshness, taste, and unique aroma,” said Pešić.

He stated that last year was extremely difficult due to poor-quality grapes and expressed hope that this year will be better.

Ratko Barnjak from the “Rale” Distillery in Novi Travnik told SRNA that he has been producing rakija for 10 years, with his first brand being viljamovka, which still draws the most interest, followed by apricot, quince, plum, and apple rakija.

He added that the distillery also offers liqueurs that are well-known at many fairs and festivals, where they have won awards, as was the case at the most recent event in East Sarajevo.

The eighth “Jahorina Economic Forum,” titled “Western Balkans Agenda – Growth Plan,” opened today and is the leading regional event in the field of economics.

On the second working day of the forum, multiple panel discussions will be held, and the event will conclude with a “Conversation with the Prime Minister,” featuring the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković.
