Borac basketball team will host Igokea in the first game of the semi-finals of the BiH Premier League.
At a press conference, Borac head coach Marko Šćekić stated that his team expects a very difficult game and that he considers Igokea the favorite going into the matchup.
“We’ve drawn the toughest possible opponent. There’s no need to say much about Igokea. They’ve had a successful season in all competitions they’ve played. They have the ABA League’s top scorer Jones and many other experienced, high-quality players. However, we’re in great form—we played the ‘League 4’ phase perfectly. So yes, it’s the toughest opponent, but we definitely have our chances. I expect strong support from the stands, which these guys have earned. The competition format works in our favor—we like that it’s decided on point difference,” said Šćekić, adding that Borac will be without Topalović until the end of the season due to an ankle injury.
“We’ll try to exploit Igokea’s weaknesses and give our maximum. Defense is our strongest weapon,” Šćekić concluded.
Borac player Vuk Bošković, who was named MVP of the BiH League, also addressed the media.
“I think the pressure is more on them. We will definitely have our chances. In the League 4 phase, we showed why we’re here. We’re a young team, full of energy, and we can compete with anyone. On the other hand, we’ll be facing 12 experienced players who will be ready at all times for both our defense and offense. We must stay focused for all 40 minutes and find a way to win,” Bošković said.
The first leg between Borac and Igokea will be played on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the Borik Sports Hall in Banja Luka.
The second leg is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 PM in Laktaši.
The team with the better aggregate point difference after both games will advance to the finals.
