The Banja Luka-based handball club Borac defeated Krivaja from Zavidovići 33:25 in the final round of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League, thus securing their place in the top tier of the competition.
This marks what is likely the club’s worst season in the 21st century, with survival in the league coming only in the very last round.
While a Borac win over Krivaja may not sound surprising, the fact that the most storied handball club in Bosnia and Herzegovina had to fight for survival until the final round is certainly concerning.
Borac still has a chance to salvage the season, with the upcoming final stages of the BiH Cup providing an opportunity to secure a spot in European competitions.
One of Borac’s standout players this season has been the veteran goalkeeper Nebojša Grahovac, who delivered a brilliant performance against Krivaja.
Also impressive in the match were Vladen Đurđević and Luka Knežević, each scoring seven goals.
Borac will now turn its focus to the fight for the BiH Cup trophy next weekend, with the final four tournament to be hosted by Izviđač in Ljubuški.
