Budimir: Russian and Serb peoples were on the right side of history

In the fight against fascism, the Russian and Serb peoples stood on the right side of history, which is why there was no doubt that the delegation of Republika Srpska, led by President Milorad Dodik, would attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in Moscow, said Željko Budimir, Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Srpska.

Budimir emphasized that both the Serb and Russian peoples suffered greatly during World War II, but ultimately emerged victorious.

He added that the majority of wartime operations in World War II were fought on the territory of present-day Srpska or BiH, which, in his view, underscores the importance of Republika Srpska’s delegation traveling to Moscow.

Budimir noted that during the visit to Moscow, the Srpska delegation held a series of successful working meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as with other world leaders and officials.

“This diplomatic activity was entirely successful. When it comes to the Eurasian space, the visibility of Republika Srpska is already at a level where President Dodik is recognized by everyone—from Brazil to China and Vietnam,” Budimir told SRNA.

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik attended the May 9 Victory Day commemoration in Moscow at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Victory Day is marked in remembrance of May 9, 1945, when the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany came into effect, ending World War II in Europe.

The Serb people were leaders in the fight against fascism in the former Yugoslavia and suffered the greatest losses, while the Soviet Union made the largest contribution to the defeat of fascism.
