Arno Gujon, Director of the Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of Serbia, stated that without Republika Srpska, there would be no Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that attempts to remove the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, pose a threat not only to one million Serbs in BiH, but also to the wider Balkan region and Europe.
“We must appeal to reason. That is what Serbia and President Aleksandar Vučić are doing—calling for a return to rational dialogue and respect for international law and the Dayton Agreement,” said Gujon.
Speaking to the French media outlet Merta, he highlighted the ongoing efforts by Bosniak political actors who, for several years now, have sought to assert political dominance over the other two constituent peoples by dismantling their constitutional powers.
“Republika Srpska is a victim of this centralization attempt—a desire to abolish acquired rights by removing competencies guaranteed by the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Gujon emphasized.
He added that the President of Republika Srpska is standing against this dangerous trend, which is creating major instability and reigniting tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Gujon pointed out that what is currently taking place in BiH is the instrumentalization of the judiciary for political purposes—aimed at harassing and subjugating Republika Srpska, which ensures that Serbs can remain free and safe on their own land.
