Borac victory in Široki Brijeg keeps pressure on league leader

Last night, the footballers of Borac Banja Luka recorded another league win, defeating Široki Brijeg away in the 30th round match held at the “Pecara” stadium.

The final score was 1–0 in favor of the team from Banja Luka.

Mladen Žižović’s squad celebrated an important victory, remaining just one point behind league leader Zrinjski, who had earlier in the day also won away—beating Velež 1–0 in the Mostar city derby at the “Rođeni” stadium.

Borac took the lead in the 26th minute. Amer Hiroš fired a powerful shot, which was initially saved by Renato Josipović. However, Filip Mekić hesitated to clear the ball, allowing Enver Kulašin to react quickly, steal possession, and send it into the net for a 1–0 lead.

Earlier in the day, Sarajevo convincingly defeated Sloga 4–0 in Doboj. The round will conclude on Sunday when Željezničar hosts bottom-placed Sloboda at the “Grbavica” stadium, while Radnik faces GOŠK in a crucial relegation battle in Bijeljina.

Zrinjski tops the table with 73 points, followed by Borac with 62 and Sarajevo with 60. Željezničar is fourth with 53.

The relegation zone currently includes Radnik, Igman, GOŠK, and Sloboda.

In the upcoming 31st round, Borac will host Velež at the “City Stadium” in Banja Luka, while league leader Zrinjski will welcome Radnik.
