The Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, extended her congratulations to journalists and all media workers in Republika Srpska and BiH on May 3rd – World Press Freedom Day, emphasizing the importance of media in reinforcing a democratic society.
Cvijanović stated that the observance of World Press Freedom Day is an opportunity to remind us that freedom of speech and expression are among the fundamental human rights of every free society.
“Precisely for this reason, the role of the media in strengthening a democratic society is extremely important. The public and citizens must be provided with accurate, objective, and timely information, in accordance with ethical principles. Only in this way can the media serve the truth, which is the central value of journalism,” Cvijanović emphasized.
In her congratulatory message, she wished media workers much success both professionally and personally, along with improved working conditions and social status, it was stated in the press release from the Cabinet of the Serb member of the BiH Presidency.
