“Wine Fine” under the plane trees: a blend of tradition, friendship, and passion

The southernmost city of Republika Srpska will host an exciting event on May 3 at the central Freedom Square.

This will be the second edition of the international festival of wine, rakija, food, and art.

The program starts at 11 a.m. at the Aperitivo Bar & Shop distillery in Zasad Polje, among the vineyards of the Vukoje Cellars, where the book Zbogom brljama by Željko Garmaz will be presented—an insightful guide through the world of homemade rakija. After that, a professional workshop titled Production of single-variety grape rakija will follow.

From 4 to 9 p.m., wineries and distilleries will showcase their products at Freedom Square.
“Wine flows through the history of Trebinje, one of the sunniest cities in the Balkans, with over 260 sunny days a year. This makes it an ideal place for growing grapevines. It is no coincidence that the Wine Fine festival (May 3, 4–9 p.m.) is held here—in the heart of the Herzegovinian wine region, known for its indigenous varieties such as žilavka and blatina,” the organizers stated.

They emphasized that this event is more than just a festival—it’s a celebration of tradition, friendship, and a shared passion for wine.
