Christian Schmidt is not the High Representative because he does not have the approval of the UN Security Council, said Ulrich Singer, a member of the Bavarian Parliament (AfD), while appearing on RTRS program Aktuelno.
“We have a person from Bavaria, from a party currently in power. Schmidt is here without a proper decision by the UN Security Council, because China and Russia vetoed his appointment to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He rules by decree, not through dialogue. I cannot understand why he governs through decrees instead of engaging in dialogue and seeking common solutions with the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik,” Singer emphasized.
According to him, Schmidt should speak to and respect the will of the people living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because even if he were a legitimate High Representative, that would be his duty.
“He should be neutral and work toward solutions that preserve what is written in the Dayton Agreement. People tell me that he is unpopular here and that they do not approve of what he is doing,” Singer added.
The fact that Schmidt lacks real legitimacy is precisely what causes so many problems.
“As a German, I would not want a foreigner ruling my country. I believe in sovereignty, and the same applies here. He should act neutrally, and only then would he be accepted in Bosnia and Herzegovina—which is exactly what his role should be,” Singer stressed.
He further emphasized the importance of peace, stability, and Christian values today.
“Christian churches in Belarus, Russia, and here still have many believers and strong faith. There is still a vibrant Christian life here, but across Europe we are losing Christian values and facing a large influx of migrants of Islamic faith, which is changing the demographic landscape,” Singer concluded.
