President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stated that Russia is fully prepared to present his case, along with those of Marine Le Pen in France and Călin Georgescu in Romania, to the UN Security Council as clear violations of rights and abuses of the legal system.
“They don’t believe it will simply pass that way, because it would signal the collapse of the global legal order,” said Dodik.
He emphasized that during their recent meeting in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin told him he was fully aware of the political persecution being carried out against him, and assured him that Russia does not abandon its friends and is ready to support and defend them politically and on every other level.
Dodik said he believes that the approach of U.S. President Donald Trump will be rational, given that Trump has faced similar judicial persecution.
He added that members of Trump’s administration have condemned the case against Marine Le Pen in France and expressed hope that his own case would receive similar recognition in the future.
When asked whether Olga Ravasi, the leader of the “Serbs for Trump” organization, might be the new U.S. ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dodik said he had heard her name mentioned.
“She is highly qualified to be appointed to an important position, and we hope that, if not ambassador to BiH, she will at least hold a role in the State Department dealing with Southeastern Europe,” said Dodik.
