At Slovenia’s initiative, the members of the UN Security Council adopted a press statement calling for political dialogue and reaffirming the importance of respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Security Council members urged both entities, the three constituent peoples and Others, as well as all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to adhere to the provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to engage in sincere, open, and constructive dialogue aimed at preserving the country’s unity and political stability.
They emphasized the need to avoid confrontational approaches, to maintain peace, and to promote stability in resolving disputes in the spirit of consensus.
Although the federal media had anticipated clearer and more condemnatory statements, such remarks were not made. The message from the Security Council is the same as the one consistently conveyed by officials in Republika Srpska – dialogue. However, that dialogue has been rejected by Sarajevo-based politicians.
