Serbian Ambassador on the attack against Serb children

“I strongly condemn the brutal attack by Sarajevo thugs on students from Novi Sad. This is yet another message that Serbs are not welcome in Sarajevo,” said Ivan Todorov, the Serbian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, following the violent assault on Serbian teenagers.

“I strongly condemn the brutal attack by Sarajevo thugs on students from Novi Sad. From what I have learned, they were beaten with metal rods. One injured student required six stitches, another four. They were also verbally abused on religious and ethnic grounds. This is yet another message that Serbs are not welcome in Sarajevo.

Raising children starts at home, which means these delinquents were likely fed hatred from an early age. Where are those who invoke peace and tolerance in Bosnia and Herzegovina on a daily basis? We will not allow Serb children to be beaten in the streets of Sarajevo while institutions turn a blind eye. Instead of calling for dialogue and coexistence, they, along with various foreign embassies and an illegitimate high representative, aim to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I demand an urgent and strong response from the relevant institutions. The perpetrators of this heinous act must be punished to the fullest extent. Serbia and the Serb people will not allow their children to become targets—especially not in Sarajevo,” Ambassador Todorov concluded.
