Dodik: “Trump has already done enough, he has liberated the world”

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that Republika Srpska does not need someone to cheer for it, but rather someone who will be objective. He emphasized that U.S. President Donald Trump has already done enough — from banning USAID to stabilizing global circumstances.

“We don’t need someone who cheers for us, we need someone who is objective,” Dodik stated in an interview with Politika.

Responding to the question of whether Republika Srpska could benefit if the United States and Russia were to resolve their disputes — or if Trump might surprise with an unexpected approach to Bosnia and Herzegovina — Dodik said speculation should be avoided.

“There are rules for everything. We are using certain mechanisms within those rules; we’ll see whether they yield results, but it’s not an easy task after 30 years of indoctrination against us in America,” Dodik noted.

He argued that Trump represents not just a shift in administration, but a fundamental change in values.

“Trump has liberated the world, and the changes are already visible. Before the U.S. elections, the world stood on the brink of global war. CIA operations, even assassinations around the world, were funded by USAID. A lot of evil was done, which Trump is now reversing,” Dodik said.

He emphasized that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 40,000 people lived off donations from USAID or George Soros’s organizations.

“Maybe they still have some money left, but we’ll see what things look like by the end of the year,” he added.

When asked if he knows when the new U.S. ambassador to Sarajevo will arrive, Dodik responded that it would be best if the U.S. Embassy were closed altogether. If that happens, he said, Republika Srpska should buy the building to use as its own embassy.

Regarding Russia, Dodik said he is proud of Serbian policy and the positions he and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić have maintained.

“In impossible circumstances, we remained principled in our policy toward Moscow, which has led a justified defense of its interests,” Dodik stated.

He said that when everyone was demonizing Russia, neither Vučić nor he joined in.

“Russia was provoked, and President Vladimir Putin acted as both a great statesman and a great military leader. Old Western deceptions, like the ‘Markale’ incidents in BiH, didn’t work there. Russia has conducted the conflict while sparing civilians as much as possible. There is no evidence of any crime committed by the Russian army,” said Dodik.

He added that Russia has returned strongly to the world stage and has become one of its pillars.

“It now speaks with the U.S. as an equal, and I welcome any progress in their relations,” the president of Republika Srpska stated.

He confirmed that he received an invitation to attend the Victory Day celebration in Moscow on May 9, saying that this and other events mark this year as a “year of remembrance.”

“I received the invitation two months ago for a Republika Srpska delegation to attend the parade commemorating 80 years of freedom,” Dodik said.

He noted that this year also marks 80 years since the breakout from the Jasenovac concentration camp, 30 years since the Dayton Peace Agreement, and the anniversary of the Nevesinje Rifle uprising.

“All of this should make this year a year of remembrance,” Dodik concluded.
