The festival is competitive in nature and will feature theatre companies from across Republika Srpska.
This year’s program will be enriched by a special exhibition dedicated to Milica Babić Andrić, the first academically trained Serb costume designer and the wife of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić.
Participating theatres include:
- National Theatre of Republika Srpska
- City Theatre Semberija
- Gradiška City Theatre
- Prijedor Theatre
- “Jazavac” City Theatre from Banja Luka
- National Theatre of East Sarajevo
“The main goal of the festival is to promote theatrical art, recognize outstanding achievements, foster dramatic literature, and present the cultural heritage of Republika Srpska,” said Zlatan Vidović, director of the Gradiška City Theatre.
Tanja Đaković, Assistant Minister for Culture in the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, emphasized that “Ljubica” is one of the most promising theatre festivals in the region.
“At the Ministry’s 2024 competition, the ‘Ljubica’ festival was rated the best and highest-quality project in the field of theatrical arts. It’s rare for something so new to shine with such brilliance right from the start,” Đaković highlighted.
This year’s festival selector is Slađana Zrnić, lead drama actress of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska.
