Dodik: We continue to fight for the Dayton Agreement and Republika Srpska

“If we accept Christian Schmidt’s decisions and what is currently happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we would be accepting the end of the Dayton Agreement and the end of Republika Srpska,” said President Milorad Dodik, reiterating that the current crisis in BiH was not caused by Republika Srpska. He emphasized that he remains committed to a peaceful agreement based on the rule of law.

Serb representatives at the joint level of government believe that the Federation does not accept such an agreement, as it seeks to transform BiH into a centralized and unitary state. They also claim to have the support of the opposition in Srpska on this matter.

Support for the leadership of Republika Srpska has once again come from Serbia and Montenegro.

“Republika Srpska cannot and will not abandon its positions. It is fully committed to peace and stability, as well as the full respect of the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Dodik stated. He added that it is difficult to understand the position of the U.S. Secretary of State, which contradicts the new anti-globalist policy and the “America First” agenda advocated by President Donald Trump.

Dodik said that Srpska has taken note of and seriously considered Marco Rubio’s statement, but reiterated that the ongoing crisis in BiH was neither caused nor chosen by Republika Srpska. He once again emphasized Srpska’s commitment to a peaceful and negotiated resolution to the crisis initiated by Christian Schmidt.

“If we accept that a German bureaucrat and a handful of ambassadors have the power to change international law, our Constitution, and our legal system, then we accept the end of the Dayton Agreement and the end of Republika Srpska. We will continue to fight for both. We persistently offer dialogue to reach an agreement, reduce tensions, and resolve the crisis. Such an agreement must be based on the rule of law, the end of judicial weaponization and manipulation of BiH’s joint institutions, and the urgent cessation of foreign interference in our internal affairs,” Dodik stated.

Cvijanović: The crisis was created with a clear goal

Republika Srpska’s position is clear, and it will not change, said Serb member and Chair of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović. She added that the crisis in BiH was created with a specific objective.

“It is clear that Christian Schmidt initiated this process, pushing it through the judiciary with the clear political motive of removing a political leader. Obviously, this is because they dislike what he is saying—because he advocates for the Constitution, constitutional solutions, and Republika Srpska, which has its rightful place and does not threaten anyone. Our position is clear,” Cvijanović said.

According to Republika Srpska’s representatives in BiH’s joint institutions, the current situation is most beneficial to political Sarajevo and the opposition in Srpska. Staša Košarac stated that the “Trojka” coalition, together with Schmidt and Srpska’s opposition, is actively working to destroy BiH in order to centralize and unify the state. Radovan Kovačević accused the opposition of serving Sarajevo’s interests for personal gain, stating that Sarajevo rejects dialogue because it is waiting for foreign actors to impose solutions exclusively in its favor and against Srpska’s interests.

Vučic: Foreign actors are funding attempts to undermine Serbian interests

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is aware of the real motives behind the current developments in BiH. He pointed out that foreign actors have invested significant funds to manipulate election outcomes in Serbia. However, he emphasized that this will not prevent Belgrade from defending Kosovo and Metohija and supporting Republika Srpska.

“There are two major powers. They want to bring us down—that is their agenda. Just look at the media in Zagreb, Sarajevo, and Priština. Everything becomes clear. A reasonable person needs no further explanation—just look at the coverage, and everything will be obvious,” Vučić stated.

Mandić: Dialogue has no alternative

One of the leading Serbian politicians in Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, who also serves as the President of the Montenegrin Parliament, told Politika that it is particularly important that President Milorad Dodik has once again invited political representatives from the other entity to engage in dialogue, emphasizing that peace and stability have no alternative.

“We must learn to work together while respecting each other and preserving our identity and traditions. The solution certainly cannot be the use of force or the imposition of decisions that contradict the BiH Constitution,” Mandić stated.

Analysts: Republika Srpska and Serbia must rely on friendly nations

To preserve the position of Republika Srpska and the Serbian people as a whole, analysts stress the importance of unity and cooperation with friendly countries. Analyst Aleksandar Pavić drew a clear parallel between the events in Srpska and Serbia.

“In Republika Srpska, you now have remnants of those structures in Sarajevo and the political West that have been working for decades to dismantle and suppress Srpska,” Pavić stated.

According to analysts, by creating a crisis in BiH, representatives of the collective West are attempting to divert attention from their failed three-year campaign against the Russian Federation. They argue that these actors now seek to ignite a new hotspot in Europe.

Regardless of these developments, Republika Srpska officials have repeatedly stated: They will not betray the interests of Republika Srpska.
