“We have no other choice. If we do not protect the institutions of Republika Srpska now, we may never have the opportunity to do so again,” said the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir, in an interview with RTRS, commenting on the potential verdict in the case against the president of Srpska and the acting director of the Official Gazette.
“It is our duty and responsibility as the government of Srpska to protect our institutions, and we must do so. This means safeguarding every position and institution, both legislative and executive, that is currently under tremendous pressure,” Budimir stated.
He emphasized that this process represents an attack on the constitutional order of Srpska.
“This is also an attack on the Constitution of BiH, as Srpska’s Constitution is fully aligned with the BiH Constitution. Our only possible response is a radical one to defend the constitutional order,” Budimir added.
He described the case against the president of Srpska before the Court of BiH as a politically motivated persecution aimed at undermining Srpska’s institutions.
“It is no coincidence that the institution of the president of Srpska was targeted. The illegitimate Court of BiH and the illegal high representative have a clear mission to erode the institutions of Srpska,” Budimir stated.
He underscored that this is not a trial against one individual.
“This is a trial against all institutions of Srpska and its constitutional order. If the verdict is a conviction, there will be no more legal certainty,” Budimir warned.
He concluded that it is evident that the Bosniak political establishment is intent on creating instability.
