The President of Republika Srpska (RS), an entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, awarded state honors to Alexander Borisov, a member of the Russian Historical Society (RHS) and an international journalist, as well as to Nebojša Kuzmanović, the head of the RHS office in Serbia, in celebration of the Serb national holiday.
Alexander Borisov, who received the Order of Honor of Republika Srpska, emphasized in an interview with Parliamentary Newspaper that this high recognition of his efforts to strengthen ties between the Russian and Serb peoples from one of the key figures of the Serb world, Milorad Dodik, is a great honor for him.
“As a journalist, I introduced readers to the views of regional politicians, scholars, cultural, and artistic figures on key international issues. I covered the successful work of representatives of the Russian Embassy and Rossotrudnichestvo in the region. I tried to support the promotion of the Russian language, strengthen ties, and facilitate the rapprochement of the brotherly Serb and Russian peoples, fostering mutual cultural enrichment,” said Borisov.
He also highlighted the deep respect that the leadership and scientific community of Republika Srpska hold for the promotion of the Russian language, history, and culture.
“I would like to extend my special gratitude to the leadership of the University of East Sarajevo—Rector Milan Kulic, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Marko Gutalj, Director of the Institute of History and Head of the RHS Office in RS, Draga Mastilović, as well as Professor of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Saint Basil of Ostrog, Darko Đogo,” Borisov stated.
He added that, thanks to these individuals, the University of East Sarajevo introduced a program in Russian Language, Literature, and International Relations, successfully launched the Russian Language Center, and that its students have repeatedly won top awards in international Olympiads for Russian as a foreign language.
