The world we live in today is drastically different from that of just a decade ago, and in ten years, today’s world will seem like a distant past, emphasized Željka Cvijanović, the Serb member and Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, during her address at the World Government Summit in Dubai.
She warned that economic crises, migration, and various security challenges require joint efforts and collective responses, as no country can tackle them alone. On the sidelines of the summit, Cvijanović met with numerous world officials.
Enhancing cooperation is imperative, not only at the bilateral and regional levels but also globally, Cvijanović highlighted at the summit in Dubai.
She strongly advocates for strengthening collaboration within the Western Balkans, as it is the path toward building a more stable and prosperous environment. She warned that in times of unpredictable global processes, we face serious challenges that put the resilience of institutions, economies, and societies at risk.
- “Some claim that the world has changed more in the past 40 years than in the previous thousand. That may seem surreal, but it is not unfounded. What is certain is that today’s world is drastically different from that of just a decade ago, and in ten years, today’s world will look like a distant past. This means only one thing – we must keep pace with the times, strengthen institutions and modernize governance, invest in education and innovation, and improve cooperation and partnerships.”
Responsible, efficient, and innovative governance is a prerequisite for maintaining stability, ensuring sustainable growth, and advancing society as a whole. This cannot be achieved without the application of new, modern technologies, Cvijanović emphasized.
She added that digital tools are essential elements of every modern administration. She considers the United Arab Emirates a prime example in this regard and expressed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the UAE in this sector. The goal is to enhance the quality of public services, maintain public order and security, and increase the safety of citizens and property.
- “The future ahead is not entirely predictable, just like the challenges we will face in the coming period. However, I am confident that we will have enough modern tools at our disposal to overcome them, as well as the knowledge to utilize them in the best possible way,” Cvijanović stated.
