A concert featuring the premiere performances of compositions by students of the Academy of Arts was held at the Student Cultural Center of the University of Banja Luka.
The concert, which took place, brought together several departments of the Music Department of the Banja Luka Academy, with works composed for string orchestra, both with and without soloists.
The event showcased works by composition students from the class of Professor Tatjana Milošević Mijanović and Assistant Professor David Mastikosa. Solo performances were delivered by Marija Pilipović on flute and Marko Galonja on accordion.
The program also featured compositions by Sergej Vanjin, Faruk Mehić, Mario Nikolić, Bruno Kordić, and Dinko Blagojević.
Professor Dinko Blagojević from the Piano Department told SRNA that concerts of contemporary music have become a rarity, making this event particularly significant.
“This was a rare opportunity to hear something truly new in our city, something originating from our fellow citizens, reflecting modern musical trends,” Blagojević emphasized.
He added that each composer showcased their unique sensibility and artistic expression.
“Writing for an orchestra requires extensive knowledge of orchestration and a deep understanding of the nature of many instruments. Musical ideas must be developed clearly and intelligently, making composition one of the most demanding musical disciplines,” Blagojević concluded.
