The fact that USAID invested nearly one billion KM in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past four years best illustrates the strength and intensity of the attack on Republika Srpska, emphasized Radovan Kovačević, delegate of the Serb People’s Club in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
Although media reports indicate that the majority of these funds were directed towards organizations and media in the Federation of BiH, Kovačević pointed out that their engagement was primarily aimed at Republika Srpska and its government.
“This is further proven by the fact that during this period, numerous articles appeared in which, instead of a journalist’s byline, there were disclaimers such as ‘this article was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’ or ‘the publication of this article was partially funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of State.’ Almost without exception, these texts aimed to discredit and falsely portray Republika Srpska as a destabilizing factor in BiH and the region,” Kovačević wrote on the social media platform X.
He added that Republika Srpska and Milorad Dodik, and occasionally Dragan Čović, were almost always the targets of such propaganda articles.
“Propaganda and lies, threats, indictments and court processes, sanctions, pressure on other governments, and international financial institutions—these were all tools used by the previous U.S. administration against the small Republika Srpska. And yet, Srpska has survived. And it will continue to survive,” Kovačević concluded.
