In a spectacular victory, Igokea defeated Cedevita Olimpija 90-85 in the 20th round of the ABA League, securing an important away win in Ljubljana.
This marks Igokea’s 12th triumph in the regional competition, keeping them in the battle for fifth place on the standings alongside Cedevita Olimpija, which also holds a 12-8 record.
Building on their strong performance against Crvena Zvezda, Igokea pulled off a surprise win, especially considering that Cedevita Olimpija led for most of the game. The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute and displayed greater composure in the final moments to seal the victory.
Bryce Jones, returning from injury, was outstanding, leading Cedevita Olimpija with 21 points and seven rebounds. Igokea’s Vasilije Pušica contributed 15 points, including a crucial three-pointer in the final minute that paved the way for victory.
Youngster Ognjen Radošić added 13 points, while Nikola Marić and Terrell Carter both scored 10 points each. The top scorer for Cedevita Olimpija was Dwayne Stewart with 23 points.
The ABA League now enters a three-week break, after which Igokea will face Mega in the 21st round on home court.
Before that, Igokea will compete in the semifinals of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup against Široki, with the match scheduled for next Friday in Gradiška. If victorious, Igokea will play the final the following day.
