The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated that the law on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is a step towards securing Srpska’s right to protect its institutions, society, and values from foreign influence.
Dodik emphasized that the law is based on practices from developed countries that advocate for transparency in the NGO sector, stressing that every organization receiving foreign funding will be required to report its finances to relevant institutions, such as the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance.
“This is not an attack on the freedom of NGOs, but a necessary measure to protect our society and Republika Srpska from foreign influence, which often operates through this sector,” Dodik told Kurir.
He pointed out that global examples clearly show how the NGO sector can be misused, referring to a recent revelation by Elon Musk’s team, which, after reviewing financial donations in the U.S., discovered that $1.5 million annually was being funneled to an organization in Serbia for LGBT propaganda.
“It is clear that even $100 billion would not be enough to destroy our people’s family values. This is proof that we are dealing with a highly organized and corrupt system, which is nothing more than a mechanism for political pressure on democratic institutions and the sovereignty of nations,” Dodik assessed.
In this context, Dodik insists there is nothing wrong with regulating the work of NGOs.
“Just as every country regulates the quality of imported food and beverages, the same applies to foreign influence through NGO funding. Republika Srpska has the right to protect its institutions and values from such external pressures, and this law is a step in that direction,” Dodik stated.
“Trump has no reason to visit BiH, but he should come to Serbia”
When asked whether U.S. President Donald Trump will visit Serbia or Bosnia and Herzegovina soon, Dodik replied:
“Trump can and should visit Serbia. He has no reason to come to BiH,” Dodik stated.
