A wolf hunt will be organized today on Ozren, with approximately 570 hunters taking part.
The hunt is being held as part of the hunting and tourism event “Ozren Hunting Day 2025”.
The president of the Ozren Hunting Association in Petrovo, Zoran Martić, told SRNA that the hunters will gather at the Kaludjerica camp on Ozren, after which they will head to their designated positions by 9:00 AM. The hunt itself will last until 1:00 PM.
Upon returning from the hunt, all participants will be provided with lunch and entertainment, as well as a lottery with valuable prizes.
For this fifth hunting and tourism event, hunters from Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, and other countries from the region have registered.
As part of the event, a lecture on the importance of predators in hunting grounds was held last night at the multimedia center in Petrovo.
Professor Zoran Ristić from the Faculty of Science in Novi Sad stated that wolves play a significant role in biodiversity when their population is controlled. However, due to a rising population in Srpska, wolves are not legally protected, and the hunting season is open year-round.
This event is supported by the municipality of Petrovo and the Hunting Association of Republika Srpska.
