Mazalica: The case against the president of Republika Srpska is under constant pressure from foreign embassies

The legal proceedings against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are under constant pressure from foreign embassies, stated Srđan Mazalica, Head of the SNSD Caucus in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, during his appearance on the RTRS morning program.

“We all expected a ruling to return the trial to the beginning, but Judge Sena Uzunović justified the decision with what can only be described as ‘squeezing water from a stone.’ This is simply standard practice, and the law clearly states so. This situation once again proves the immense pressure exerted by the outgoing U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy, and we believe that pressure will decrease with his departure,” Mazalica emphasized.

Evidence of this pressure, he noted, is the fact that a new hearing has been scheduled every Wednesday this month in Sarajevo.

Today, the trial of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and acting director of the Official Gazette of Srpska Miloš Lukić will continue before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on charges of “non-compliance with the decision of Christian Schmidt.”

“The defense has all the necessary arguments to prove that Christian Schmidt lacks a United Nations Security Council resolution authorizing him to serve as High Representative. He was appointed only by a few states, which represent a tiny minority of the world’s population,” Mazalica stressed.

On Trump’s suspension of USAID funding for NGOs

Mazalica also commented on Donald Trump’s recent executive order suspending U.S. funding for non-governmental organizations, noting that there are 25,000 such organizations operating in Sarajevo alone.

“These NGOs have essentially been an extension of U.S. foreign policy, meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign states while claiming to support so-called ‘free media.’ Republika Srpska will not suffer any major loss from the suspension of these funds—quite the opposite,” Mazalica stated.
