Stevandić: Schmidt is the greatest potential destroyer of the Dayton Agreement

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated that the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will cease to exist if it is violated by Christian Schmidt, whom he considers the greatest potential destroyer of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Stevandić emphasized that Republika Srpska has the courage, strength, capability, and wisdom to protect itself during these challenging times and to act institutionally, unlike those who have repeatedly violated the Constitution, operate outside institutions, and are once again announcing unconstitutional actions.

“If Schmidt violates it, the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will no longer exist. If there is no Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, then there is no international treaty called the Dayton Agreement. This makes the currently illegitimate high representative its biggest potential destroyer,” Stevandić stated.

He stressed that the most important issue for the political future is the Serb national question, rather than discussions about the EU or Schmidt.

“We need to turn to each other, implement it, and in doing so, be a pillar of support for Serbia in these difficult times, sending a message of respect and unity while preparing to participate in future Serbian relations based on mutual recognition,” Stevandić said.

He concluded that Republika Srpska will remain focused, patient, and rational, advocating for mutual respect and compromise among all political actors.
