A diverse range of cultural events—including book promotions, film screenings, poetry evenings, and concerts—have been organized at House Milanović in Banja Luka since its opening in September.
“In just over a hundred days of operation, House Milanovića has hosted nearly the same number of events. The main events were carefully planned throughout the year to present the concept of this cultural house. We were honored to welcome leading figures of national culture, science, and literature to Kuća Milanovića, including Matija Bećković, Vojislav Koštunica, Milo Lompar, Emir Kusturica, Pero Zubac, Dušan Kovačević, Ljubivoje Ršumović, Đorđo Sladoje, Salih Selimović, Zdravko Miovčić, Ranko Popović, Zoran Arsović, Draga Mastilović, and Vladan Bartula,” said Duško Pevulja, the director of House Milanović.
Establishing the “Branko Milanović” literary award
The next major step for House Milanović is the introduction of the “Branko Milanović” award for literary studies.
“Although there are numerous literary awards, Republika Srpska does not have a single award dedicated to literary theory, history, and criticism. This will become one of the defining features of House Milanović as a home of Serb culture,” Pevulja stated.
Additionally, the institution plans to organize several events in honor of Saint Sava’s Day.
“Beyond the celebrations already conducted by the Serb Orthodox Church and the Banja Luka Eparchy, our city has long needed another institution to contribute to this occasion. We will focus on the educational and cultural significance of Saint Sava’s legacy as a key pillar of our national identity—the strongest and most enduring mark of Serb culture,” Pevulja emphasized, adding that culture is the essential prerequisite for preserving identity.
