Where will the “Welcome to Republika Srpska” signs be placed?

The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, announced that the “Welcome to Republika Srpska” signs, which were previously placed further inland, will now be positioned in front of border crossings following the adoption of the Law on Border Control.

Dodik, who is also the leader of SNSD, stated that the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska had reasons to support the two laws passed today in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He pointed out that a major issue for politicians in Sarajevo was the fact that the “Welcome to Republika Srpska” sign was present at all border crossings upon entering Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. They sought to move these signs 300 meters inland.

“Through discussion, we proposed that the signs remain just 50 meters from the border line, and they accepted it. This was incorporated into the law. They either didn’t realize it, didn’t understand it, or simply didn’t know. It was evident how Naša Stranka leader, Edin Forto, had no clue what a border line even is. This only highlights how incompetent and uninformed some people are, yet they want to make decisions on important matters,” Dodik stated.

He explained that the border line in Gradiška is at the midpoint of the Sava River.

“Fifty meters from that midpoint, under this new law, we can place the ‘Welcome to Republika Srpska’ sign, and that is exactly what we will do,” Dodik emphasized.

He reiterated that the sign, which was previously positioned deeper inside Republika Srpska, will now be located directly in front of border crossings.

“They simply do not understand these things. Their actions were driven by hatred, and this is the result they got. It is never wise to try solving problems while being driven by hatred. Hatred only leads to problems,” Dodik concluded.
