After securing three consecutive wins, Igokea’s basketball team is heading into what is arguably their toughest game of the season. The team from Aleksandrovac will face Budućnost in Podgorica in the 18th round of the ABA League tomorrow at 7 PM, a venue where they have never won in their previous 13 visits.
Head coach Nenad Stefanović acknowledged the challenge, compounded by the injury of one of their key players.
- “We’re about to face undoubtedly the toughest match of the season so far. We’re playing against Budućnost, a team performing exceptionally in both the ABA League and EuroCup. To make matters worse, we’re traveling without our first playmaker, Bryce Jones, which makes them absolute favorites. However, we’ll try to play as well as possible, with maximum energy and fight. There’s no surrender before the game even begins—we’ll approach the match without pressure and hope for a positive result in Podgorica,” Stefanović said.
Igokea currently sits fifth in the standings with a record of 11-6, while Budućnost holds second place at 15-2.
- “We’re expecting a tough game against Budućnost. They’re a very strong team that’s playing well in the EuroCup and has many skilled players who know how to control the game. Despite being short-handed due to injuries, we’ll give our best and try to continue our winning streak,” said Igokea player Ognjen Radošić.
