Exhibition “Notable Serb Mothers” at the Museum of Republika Srpska

The exhibition “Notable Serb Mothers” by academic sculptor Đorđe Zečević from Šabac will open on January 24 at 6 PM at the Museum of Republika Srpska. It will feature 16 portraits of Serb women who left a profound impact on the history and collective memory of the people.

According to the Museum, the relief portraits of mothers, ranging from Queen Jelena and Princess Milica to Milunka Savić and Diana Budisavljević, aim to emphasize the pivotal role and importance of women and mothers in society.

  • “As central figures of the family and society, mothers were the bearers of preserving and passing on essential values and cultural heritage. Zečević selected the portrayed figures based on intuition, with a desire to honor mothers who symbolized the preservation of the family even through the most challenging periods in history, when the very survival of the nation was at stake,” the statement said.

The “Notable Serb Mothers” exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Republika Srpska’s gallery until February 25.
