Cvijanović: Bosniak politicians aware they are losing focus with the departure of Biden’s administration

The Serb member and chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, stated that the outgoing administration of Joseph Biden, along with the narrative about Republika Srpska’s secession mentioned in a pamphlet published on the administration’s last working day, is merely a cover for the misdeeds committed here by the same people.

Cvijanović pointed out that Bosniak politicians are aware that Bosnia and Herzegovina is losing political focus with the departure of Biden’s administration. She noted that they are now attempting to attract the attention of the new administration by raising false topics and claims about allegedly threatened security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, tied to political developments.

  • “We should not make this a political issue. Instead, we should focus on those who have demonstrated a willingness to view all peoples within Bosnia and Herzegovina as friends and who want to help us progress toward the EU,” Cvijanović said during a press conference in Sarajevo.

She emphasized that members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other institutions, hold different opinions on many important issues but still believe in fostering good relations with friends.

“The European Union is the entity that connects us through its political agenda,” Cvijanović added.

Following a meeting of the Presidency members with Czech President Petr Pavel, Cvijanović noted that the two countries have no unresolved issues and discussed improving cooperation in tourism.

  • “We talked about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s role and the challenges we face on our path to the EU. The Czech President expressed his support, and it is important to know who our friends are, those who advocate for the progress of countries toward the EU,” Cvijanović stated during the press conference.

She added that institutional cooperation and the development of partnerships are essential.

Cvijanović also stated that there are no security challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina, only political disagreements on key issues. However, she highlighted that the shared narrative about the EU path remains a unifying factor.
