Budimir: Dodik, Orbán, and Szijjártó responsible for strong relations with Hungary

The Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir, emphasized that Hungary and Republika Srpska are currently experiencing the pinnacle of their historically strong relations, which are the best to date.

  • “I am referring not only to the good relations between Srpska and Hungary but also between the Serb people as a whole and Hungary. This has been achieved thanks to the shared understanding and alignment of key political and fundamental values between President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić,” Budimir stated at a press conference following his meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in Budapest.

Budimir explained that this strategic partnership is the result of joint efforts and Hungary’s support within EU institutions, as well as its responsible and security-focused policy toward the Balkans. He noted that Hungary’s national security is inherently tied to the stability of the Western Balkans.

  • “We must not forget the individuals who contributed to developing these relations. I am certain that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President Milorad Dodik, and Minister Szijjártó will be remembered in history as those who made a turning point in the relations between Hungary and Republika Srpska,” Budimir emphasized.

He added that achieving this during challenging times is particularly significant.

  • “Minister Szijjártó has been at the forefront of the fight against leftist neoliberal globalism, which sought not only to undermine state sovereignty but also fundamental human values threatened within European civilization. We Serbs take pride in leaders like Orbán and Szijjártó, who stood firm during these difficult times,” Budimir said.

He pointed out that Serbs were among the first victims of globalization and the first to resist neoliberal hegemony at its peak.

Budimir announced that a meeting between President Dodik, Prime Minister Orbán, and Minister Szijjártó would be organized soon.

  • “You can expect these meetings very soon. The dates are being coordinated, and this reflects the highly synchronized political cooperation at the highest levels between Republika Srpska and Hungary,” Budimir said.

To avoid any misunderstanding, he added, Hungary’s support extended not only to Republika Srpska but to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, including its Federation entity.

  • “Anyone seeking to pursue stable politics in the interest of the people can find a reliable partner in Hungary,” Budimir concluded.
