The General Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Chicago, Tatjana Telić, stated that the establishment of the American-Serb Political Action Committee is a significant step towards improving cooperation between the Serb community in the U.S. and the broader American society.
Telić emphasized the importance of the committee being formed just before the inauguration of President Donald Trump, describing the inauguration as a major event not only for the United States but for the entire world.
“This initiative has the potential to strengthen the voice of the Serb community in the political and social life of the U.S., contributing to better understanding and stronger ties between the Serb and American people. It is also an excellent opportunity to highlight political, economic, and cultural values, as well as the contributions of the Serb community to American society through dialogue and joint projects,” Telić told Srna.
She stressed that this initiative is not aimed at the detriment of other peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region but at strengthening dialogue and fostering equal relationships among all communities.
“As a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Republika Srpska, I support every effort that contributes to strengthening the Serb diaspora, its organization, and connections, all in accordance with the laws and democratic values of the host country, striving for mutual progress and understanding,” Telić noted.
Speaking about Donald Trump’s inauguration, she stated that it is a significant political event, primarily due to the geopolitical influence of the U.S.
“As General Consul of BiH, my focus remains on strengthening bilateral relations and promoting the interests of Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I hope that President Trump’s administration will support balanced relations, impartiality in the political life of BiH, consistent implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, and a return to democratic values in our country,” Telić concluded.
Donald Trump will officially be inaugurated today as the 47th President of the United States, with a delegation from Republika Srpska in attendance. The presidential parade will take place at Washington’s Capitol One Arena, where Trump will arrive after taking the oath at the Capitol.
The program includes Trump taking the oath at 6:00 PM Central European Time, followed by signing his first decisions and attending inaugural balls held in his honor, where he will address the attendees.
The delegation from Republika Srpska attending the inauguration includes the President’s envoy Marko Romić, the President’s advisor Siniša Mihailović, the Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation Zlatan Klokić, and the Head of Srpska’s Representative Office in Vienna, Mladen Filipović.
