Stevandić: New sanctions are an attack on the institutions of Srpska

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated that the new sanctions imposed by the outgoing U.S. administration on officials in Srpska represent an attack on its institutions. He emphasized that the claim that celebrating Republika Day violates the Dayton Peace Agreement is a blatant lie.

Stevandić pointed out that the sanctions list includes Rajko Kuzmanović, President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Republika Srpska, and Goran Filipović, the Chief of Staff to the President of the National Assembly, for whom there is no clear explanation for their inclusion.

“Rajko Kuzmanović is the most respectable person in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Filipović was on annual leave until January 9,” Stevandić remarked.

He added that this demonstrates the absurdity of the sanctions and reflects an attack on institutions.

“It is a big lie to claim that this is personal or that it violates the Dayton Agreement. Those who impose sanctions are the ones who violate Dayton the most,” Stevandić said, adding that the sanctions aim to completely disable Republika Srpska from making decisions.
