Israel’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Galit Peleg, stated that the mayor of Novo Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, chooses to celebrate Hamas gaining greater control over the lives of Gaza’s residents instead of highlighting the release of a baby who spent most of her life in the hands of terrorists.
“A baby who has spent most of her life in the hands of terrorists and an 86-year-old man are freed after 16 months, and you choose to celebrate the part where Hamas gains greater control over the lives of Gaza residents? Do you even support Palestinians?” Peleg asked the mayor on the social media platform X.
Peleg’s comments came in response to Karić’s post on X, where she shared a photograph of a vehicle in Sarajevo displaying wartime flags of the so-called Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Palestine, accompanied by the message that Sarajevo “has always been and will always be on the side of truth and justice.”
Karić’s post triggered sharp reactions from users on X.
As a reminder, negotiators from the Israeli government and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip on January 15.
