Dodik: Ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas will halt fighting and enable hostage release

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas.

Dodik stated on the social media platform X that this agreement will halt the fighting and facilitate the release of hostages, allowing them to reunite with their families on both sides.

The parties involved in the Gaza conflict—Israel and Hamas—have agreed to a 42-day ceasefire mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The agreement will come into effect on January 19, according to Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani.

In the first phase, 33 Israeli hostages, including civilians, will be released, and, in return, Palestinian prisoners will be freed from Israeli prisons and detention centers as part of the deal. Al Thani added that Qatar, Egypt, and the United States will form a joint team in Cairo to oversee the ceasefire.

The Israeli government is expected to vote on the Gaza ceasefire agreement today.
