Zlatan Klokić, Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, stated that the change in leadership in the United States offers an opportunity for Srpska’s institutions to build better relations with the incoming Republican administration compared to the previous Democratic one led by Joseph Biden.
Klokić told Srna that the primary culprit for the strained relations between Republika Srpska and the United States is undoubtedly the American ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy, whose actions have gone beyond all diplomatic norms and frameworks.
“And that is, believe me, the mildest possible assessment of his mandate,” Klokić said.
He emphasized that in an effort to improve relations, the new U.S. administration will be presented with the truth about the events in BiH and who is truly responsible for undermining the Dayton Agreement and the Constitution of BiH.
“We will strive to highlight the unjust political process being conducted before BiH judicial authorities against the legitimately and democratically elected president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik,” Klokić stated.
He expressed confidence that the newly elected U.S. president and his team would be receptive to this matter, noting that Donald Trump himself had been a victim of political persecution and misuse of the judiciary under Biden’s administration.
Donald Trump is set to officially assume office as President of the United States on January 20.
