Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, stated that the Serb people, having endured centuries of oppression, torture, and atrocities, developed a conditioned reflex for survival, resulting in the creation of Republika Srpska.
- We know that as long as Republika Srpska exists, there will no longer be such crimes against us. That is why Republika Srpska exists – Stevandić said.
He recalled the historical suffering of the Serbs, including Ottoman atrocities such as impalement and the blood tax, followed by Austro-Hungarian crimes, noting that the first concentration camp in modern Europe was established in Doboj for Serbs in 1915, in a horse quarantine.
- Summing up these crimes, from the Nazi atrocities in Garavice, Brod na Drini, and Šušnjari, to more recent ones in Bratunac, Kravica, and Zalazje—remember, we developed a conditioned reflex. We created Republika Srpska. As long as Republika Srpska exists, such crimes against us will no longer occur. That is why Republika Srpska exists – Stevandić emphasized in an interview with Pink Television.
Stevandić pointed out that Republika Srpska, throughout its 33 years of existence, has faced constant challenges but has demonstrated its ability to endure and will continue to do so, regardless of external pressures.
Republika Srpska celebrates January 9 as Republika Srpska Day, marking 33 years of existence under the slogan “Born for Eternity.”
