The Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, sent a telegram of condolences to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, following the earthquake that struck Tibet.
Cvijanović expressed deep sorrow over the devastating earthquake in Tibet, which resulted in loss of life and significant material damage.
In these difficult times, she extended her deepest condolences and solidarity to the Chinese President, the families of the victims, and the friendly Chinese people.
- Mr. President, please convey my heartfelt sympathy and support to the families who have lost their loved ones, as well as my wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured – stated Cvijanović.
She expressed hope that rescue teams would save more lives through timely actions and that China would successfully overcome the consequences of this natural disaster.
The earthquake, measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale, struck this morning in the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China, near the city of Shigatse.
According to the latest reports, 126 people have been confirmed dead, and 188 have been injured.
