“I don’t know the motives of Christian Šmit, but I do know that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported the conclusions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS),” said Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, reacting to Šmit’s decision to annul the conclusions of the NSRS.
“I also don’t know why the U.S. Embassy treats him like a butler, publishing his decisions even before the OHR does. However, I do know that the conclusions of the NSRS were supported by the Court of BiH, which, in the case of the trial of the President of Srpska, acted in accordance with them and protected patient rights by appointing a team of experts and respecting their opinion,” Stevandić stated in a post on X.
He emphasized that he also knows the conclusions are aligned with European standards, where no one outside legislative bodies is authorized to make laws.
“I urge them to read the opinion of the Venice Commission. I also know that the conclusions of the NSRS call for the preservation, not the destruction, of the Dayton Agreement and that they are pro-Dayton because, according to it, decisions are made by peoples and entities in assemblies, not by the PIC or embassies. Surely, the goal isn’t to ruin our Christmas and upcoming holidays? That’s all for now,” Stevandić concluded.
