Republika Srpska and Serbia will not experience any consequences from the interruption of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, as they are supplied via the Balkan and TurkStream pipelines, experts confirm.
Every year, approximately 14 to 15 billion cubic meters of gas are delivered through these routes to Romania, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary.
The director of “Sarajevo Gas,” Nedeljko Elek, emphasized that the strong relations between the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, have secured the most favorable gas prices in Europe.
- “We are also protected because we are connected to transport routes through TurkStream and BalkanStream, ensuring that we will not face any issues. This situation might affect gas prices on the stock market, but we are tied to the oil formula, and I expect a slight price reduction in the first quarter of January. The hardest hit by this will be Slovakia and Moldova,” Elek added.
