Status conference in Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow in case against Dodik and Lukić

A status conference with defense attorneys in the case against the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and acting director of “Official Gazette,” Miloš Lukić, will be held tomorrow in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main hearing, originally scheduled for December 30, was postponed after the court obtained a multidisciplinary medical assessment from a six-member team of doctors at the “Primarius Dr. Abdulah Nakaš” General Hospital in Sarajevo. The team concluded that president Dodik is not medically fit to attend the trial.

“The six-member medical team from the ‘Primarius Dr. Abdulah Nakaš’ General Hospital in Sarajevo determined that president Dodik is not physically capable of traveling between Banja Luka and Sarajevo, attending the trial, or following its proceedings for six weeks after surgery,” Dodik’s attorney, Goran Bubić, previously stated.

Bubić also confirmed that the main hearing was postponed, and tomorrow’s status conference will focus on procedural matters.

Earlier, Bubić submitted a request to the court for the removal of forensic expert Haris Vranić from the case, citing political bias as one of the reasons.

President Dodik underwent surgery on December 9 in Belgrade. The procedure, which involved the stomach and esophagus, was complicated but successful.

Dodik and Lukić are facing charges for allegedly “disregarding the decisions of Christian Schmidt.”
