The special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska begins, causing hysteria in Sarajevo

The special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska has begun in Banja Luka, with the proposed agenda including information about the collapse of the legal system in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to violations of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The second item on the agenda involves taking a stance regarding the Draft Law on Border Control and the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have been submitted to the procedure in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Attending the session are the vice president of SNSD, Željka Cvijanović, as well as ministers from the Government of Republika Srpska, the Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers, Srđan Amidžić, member of the Serb Club in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milan Petković, and SDS representative, Darko Babalj.

It is planned that the session will include speeches from the heads of parliamentary caucuses in the Republika Srpska Parliament, one representative from each group, as well as leaders of parliamentary parties.

Proposed conclusions to be considered by the National Assembly today

The president of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated earlier that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is autonomous, sovereign, and independent, and that the representatives are protected by immunity and the status of the Republika Srpska Parliament. He emphasized that representatives are accountable only to the people who elect them and to the majority that defines policies.

He added that this is a completely normal and routine session of the Republika Srpska Parliament, but noted that, amidst major misinformation and spin regarding sensitive topics, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina reacted, which he sees as evidence of the fear and paranoia about Republika Srpska in Sarajevo.
