The performance “Carmen – A Tragedy (Opera in One Act)” directed by Milan Nešković will be held on December 26 at the National Theatre of Srpska, on the main stage, starting at 8 PM.
Carmen by Georges Bizet is one of the most famous and most-performed tragedies in the history of operatic literature.
- “In Peter Brook’s dramaturgical adaptation, created in the 1980s, the dramatic action becomes denser, more intense, and more focused. ‘Carmen,’ the first operatic Roma heroine, does not only tell a story about great love and tragedy but, above all, speaks about freedom—freedom of existence, action, and ultimately, the freedom of choice and love,” said conductor Stefan Zekić.
The cast includes: Sofia Petrović, Marko Živković, Milica Damjanac, Vuk Zekić, Goran Jokić, Vladimir Đorđević, Rok Radiša, and Anđela Rakočević.
