Promoted book by Milan Jolović Legend, “Wolf in a War Story”

The book “Wolf in a War Story” by Milan Jolović Legend, colonel and commander of the Special Unit “Wolves from Drina,” was presented this evening in Istočno Novo Sarajevo. The book delves into the socio-psychological aspects of soldiers’ behavior during wartime.

Jolović emphasized that the book does not focus on heroism but rather on the psychological aspects of soldiers’ conduct in war.

“I described how a soldier copes with fear, how to recognize when a soldier is overwhelmed with adrenaline, and how he experiences the greatest shock, which can lead to suicide. I highlighted these issues to draw attention from the professional public to address these problems,” said Jolović.

He pointed out that many soldiers were never tested or evaluated for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after the war.

Jolović also wrote about the role of Serb farmers who historically defended and fed the state.

“The state has never adequately repaid them,” said Jolović, adding that wisdom and experience often come from farmers.

The book also addresses the role of women in war and the relationship between politics and the military.

Dragoslav Bokan, president of the Institute for National Strategy, who wrote the foreword to Jolović’s book, stressed the importance of such works.

“Unlike previous wars, the last war has not been extensively covered in literature. Unfortunately, it has mainly become a topic for journalists. That is why it is so important when someone who directly participated in the war writes a book like this, highlighting the significance of the war and the heroes of that era,” said Bokan.

Professor of geopolitics Srđan Perišić, who also spoke about the book, described it as captivating and recommended it to all generations.

“The book sheds light on the struggles and dilemmas of soldiers. Republika Srpska has been waiting 29 years for such a work,” said Perišić.

He emphasized that history and political science confirm that a nation that forgets its history, suffering, and achievements will not be prepared to face future challenges.

“This book by Jolović, now a retired colonel, provides new strength and perspective on how to approach the future based on the experiences we all lived through between 1992 and 1995,” noted Perišić.

He highlighted that Jolović’s experience as a commander is invaluable, as the book describes war events by focusing on the ordinary soldier and himself.
