President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Nenad Stevandić stated that the EU Council, through its conclusions on Bosnia and Herzegovina, is calling for a violation of the BiH Constitution and demonstrating that bureaucracy has overtaken the conduct of foreign affairs, while EU acts are not being interpreted authentically.
Commenting on the EU Council’s conclusion prioritizing citizens over constituent peoples in BiH, Stevandić said that EU regulations stipulate that states are admitted into the Union with their specificities intact.
“It is not written anywhere that these countries must change their constitutions or prioritize categories not recognized in their constitutions. This reflects not only a misunderstanding of European legislation but also a blatant violation of the BiH Constitution,” Stevandić remarked.
The EU Council, in its conclusions from yesterday’s meeting in Brussels, stated that BiH “must undertake further constitutional and electoral reforms to ensure equality and non-discrimination of all citizens, particularly by implementing the Sejdić-Finci
ruling and related European Court of Human Rights judgments.”
