The “Paljanska zima” event offers a variety of activities and events for all generations, officially starting on December 20, 2024, with the first days of winter.
This winter celebration, organized by numerous local associations and institutions, will enrich the lives of residents and tourists until the end of February 2025.
The Director of the Tourist Organization of the City of East Sarajevo, Igor Ikonić, emphasized that this is the second edition of the event, boasting a unique calendar of activities. “The central event will undoubtedly be the organized celebration of the Orthodox New Year on the Paljanski promenade, featuring performances by Branka Zečević and the local band Istureno odjeljenje,” Ikonić stated.
In addition to the Orthodox New Year celebration, visitors can look forward to numerous attractions: the annual concert by KUD “Mladost,” the traditional Epiphany swimming for the Holy Cross on the Prača River, and events for children, including gift-giving, a children’s New Year celebration, and dance and art performances.
One of the most exciting additions to the program is the installation of a real ice skating rink in the Olympic Park at the beginning of February, enhancing the winter atmosphere. Tradition enthusiasts will enjoy events celebrating Christmas Eve and Republika Srpska Day, while food and drink lovers can attend the Winter Craft Beer Festival.
The program also includes a charity bazaar, a Santa Claus race, a concert by the music ensemble “Pale,” and many surprises for all visitors.
“We are especially pleased to once again organize the Epiphany swimming for the Holy Cross, which drew immense attention last year,” Ikonić added, announcing additional surprises and activities throughout the festival.
The organizers of the event include the City of East Sarajevo, the Municipality of Pale, KSC “Pale,” JU DC “Buba Mara,” EC “Big Ben,” KUD “Mladost,” the Moto Club “Pale,” the music ensemble “Pale,” and the Paljanska Parish of the Serbian Orthodox Church, initiated by the Tourist Organization of the City of East Sarajevo.
This winter adventure blends tradition, fun, and the magic of the holiday season!
