The Kozara Museum in Prijedor has opened an exhibition titled “Notable Serb Mothers” by Šabac-based academic sculptor Đorđe Zečević. The exhibition features 16 portraits of Serbian women who left a significant mark on history, created in relief.
The reliefs were modeled in clay and cast in plaster.
Zečević explained that the essence of the exhibition lies in crafting portraits of mothers from Mother Earth itself. He emphasized that the message of the exhibition is about reconnecting with oneself and one’s roots.
- “We need to recognize within ourselves that infinite love and kindness that every mother offers and try to find strength in that drop of mother’s milk for the new challenges that lie ahead,” Zečević stated.
Among the portraits on display are those of Queen Jelena, Princess Milica, Milunka Savić, and Diana Budisavljević. The collection also includes the symbolic “Mother of Kozara.”
The “Notable Serb Mothers” exhibition will remain open at the Kozara Museum until January 13.
