With a decisive 4-0 victory over Igman, Borac continues its battle with Zrinjski and Sarajevo. The Banja Luka team delivered a strong offensive performance following their return from Iceland, securing a well-deserved win.
Coach Mladen Žižović expressed satisfaction with the team’s display, particularly given the exhaustion following their long trip from Iceland and the complications afterward.
“A clear, well-deserved win. We controlled the game from the first minute, although we occasionally lost our positioning unnecessarily. We may have taken excessive risks defensively after securing the lead, but I have no complaints. After a difficult, very long journey and return issues, the team showed character. Playing such a match less than 72 hours after returning deserves praise, and the players truly deserve all the credit for representing the city and club. Playing this many games with just 20 players requires great sacrifice, and they’ve proven to be an outstanding group,” said Žižović. Borac faces no rest in the upcoming period, as the team’s high level of exertion remains a challenge.
“Of course, we could use more freshness, but this match schedule demands a lot. We practically have a game every three days, but we’re not complaining. This is what we dreamed of—playing in the group stage. Competing on multiple fronts can affect focus and stamina, but so far, we’re pushing through. We’ll try to recover as quickly as possible for these upcoming challenges. We dedicate this win to Stefan Savić, who has significantly contributed to our results,” Žižović added.
The match against Igman was marked by Đorđe Despotović’s two goals and the appearance of Nedim Keranović.
“Despotović is known for his skill within the penalty area, and he proved it. We expect even more from him. He didn’t go through pre-season with the team since he joined in September, so he’s exerting a lot of effort. I believe he’ll continue to improve because he works hard. The club’s policy is to develop young players; anyone who stands out in the youth selections will get a chance. It’s up to them to seize that opportunity. After Pavle Đajić, Nedim Keranović also had his chance, and anyone who earns it will have the opportunity to prove themselves,” Žižović emphasized.
Borac will play a Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup match against Laktaši on Saturday, followed by a rescheduled match against Doboj’s Sloga four days later, a league game against Sloboda, and then a Conference League clash with LASK.
“Nektar” continues its support for Borac
