Radmanović: In a referendum, 90 percent of Srpska’s citizens would choose life with Serbia

Chairman of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly House of Representatives, Nebojša Radmanović, stated that for Serbs, Belgrade is the capital city and that if a referendum were held today, 90 percent of Republika Srpska’s citizens would opt to live with Serbia.

“We from Republika Srpska do not threaten BiH, and that will remain so as long as the interests of Republika Srpska and the Serb people are not threatened,” Radmanović said to “Serb Television” in Montenegro.

Discussing the U.S. election results, Radmanović mentioned that he had a negative view of the previous administration and the U.S. Embassy in BiH, and that the Serb people were eagerly awaiting change.

“The Serb people in Europe were eagerly anticipating a change in the United States and the arrival of Donald Trump due to the negative experiences with the previous administration and the U.S. ambassador in Sarajevo,” Radmanović emphasized.

Radmanović noted that there are forces in BiH unwilling to reach an agreement at the BiH level, seeking instead to command from a single center, which is neither possible nor democratic.

He stressed that the Dayton Agreement is the most significant international agreement since World War II, as it ended the tragic events in BiH.

“This agreement created two small states that were combined into one BiH. Political Sarajevo believes everything should be centralized, while in Republika Srpska, we consider the original Dayton Agreement the best option, though it has not been properly implemented, especially by the international community,” Radmanović said.

He questioned why Montenegro could not be a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, as a brotherly state.

Radmanović added that Christian Schmidt lacks legitimacy because he was not elected by the UN Security Council, yet he does what he pleases with the support of the U.S. Embassy in BiH.

“We would reach an agreement in BiH more easily if there were no high representative, and his very presence shows that BiH is not sovereign,” Radmanović stated.

He emphasized that Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik did not intend anything negative when he suggested that young men from Republika Srpska could complete their military service in Serbia.

“Political Sarajevo reacted negatively to this statement, although Dodik did not make a decision but merely offered a suggestion,” Radmanović noted.

Radmanović, who is on an official visit to Montenegro, said that political and other relations between Montenegro and BiH are at an admirable level, with no open issues.

“The entire border between BiH and Montenegro is, in fact, the border between Montenegro and Republika Srpska. There are no issues or unresolved questions, which is a positive example for the entire region,” Radmanović added.

He stressed that Montenegro and BiH, specifically Republika Srpska, can primarily develop economic cooperation.

Radmanović stated that parliaments should discuss the EU path, on which Montenegro has made the most progress in the region.

“BiH can benefit from Montenegro’s experience on the EU path,” Radmanović added.

He believes the EU is slow and reluctant to consider admitting the region’s countries, given its experiences with Romania and Bulgaria.

“I am certain that Montenegro and Serbia are first in line for EU membership, but the question is whether Europeans will realize that. Joining the EU is necessary for us and equally for the EU,” Radmanović said.

He added that Europeans have behaved very poorly regarding BiH’s EU path.
