The former Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Gojko Kličković, expects close associates of the new U.S. President, Donald Trump, to put an end to the ongoing disruption of Srpska from various foreign and domestic political actors, primarily from the Federation of BiH and the Bosnian level.
Kličković believes that Trump’s victory is crucial for the Serb people because, at least in Srpska, they will no longer face daily pressures, threats, and sanctions.
“I expect Trump’s close associate, Richard Grenell, to address the situation in the Balkans in the foreseeable future, from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Kosovo and beyond. I am confident we will feel the positive effects as early as next year,” Kličković told Srna.
He noted that Grenell, along with his associates, will ask the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to finally move toward mutual agreements in line with the Dayton Agreement. In other words, as Srpska’s representatives strive, they should negotiate, build, and create without the previously seen and unproductive political ploys.
“He will specifically insist that Sarajevo abandon the ‘me against you, you against me’ tactics. Everyone is tired of this. And Grenell will put a stop to it,” Kličković believes.
He explained that Trump is the complete opposite of the previous American administration, even though he resides in the same country.
“The U.S. before Trump based its entire concept on force and power. They are gradually losing that, and Trump is a man who values business and finance. In that direction, he is capable of extraordinary things,” said Kličković.
He added that Trump and his associates will significantly relieve the pressure on Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Serbia concerning Kosovo and Metohija.
“They won’t, of course, hand Kosovo over to Serbia, but they also won’t allow the situation to continue as it has, trampling on the human and fundamental rights of Serbs. Trump’s victory is, therefore, one of the best pieces of news for us in these unstable times,” said Kličković.
He stressed that now Russian President Vladimir Putin will also have an associate who will not impose or oppress through force but will strive to create a form of competition in the world, a contest for economic prestige and jobs.
According to him, Trump supports a better and simpler life for people, as it is challenging to live under constant tensions, even nuclear threats.
“In the future, like Trump, we need to turn our focus inward. We need to create conditions for our people to start returning and to secure a place for them here under this sky. We must provide them with job opportunities and resources so they can participate and fight for their existence and a better standard of living,” Kličković concluded.
